We first met in sixth form at Chesham Grammar School in 2017, and have been going strong as a couple since January of 2018!
Rukshia's Version
I remember the first day I met Jack; it was my birthday and I was introduced to him through a friend who had come to say happy birthday. I thought he was cute from the start (he looks good in a suit), and we became good friends.
I thought I was quite obvious with my crush but Jack happens to be a very oblivious guy, and he was VERY surprised when I told him I liked him as he thought I was just being nice! It all ends well though as he surprised me back by asking me out that January.
The six years that have followed have felt like a whirlwind, and despite the distance and endless facetime calls through university and placements, he has been my rock, my safe place and where I now call home. I cannot wait to marry you, my love.
Jack's Version
I learnt everything from scratch. From reading signals (or not as it seems) to actually texting more than once every 4 days, but Rukshia has always been there lovingly and very patiently waiting at that! The day I asked her out I’d been thinking about it all week and only plucked up the courage on the train going home from school (after falling down the hill), only to be met the answer ‘are you sure?’. As it turns out yes I was very sure.
Yes the physical distance between us has been stupidly hard but we’ve always been the closest people around; through uni, COVID, work; there has been always unconditional love and support to which no one else could ever get anywhere close. Rukshia is the most incredible, gifted, beautiful woman in the world and it has been an honour to grow with her through the good times and the bad. Now I call her my fiancée, and with all my heart let’s enjoy this chapter now shall we.
